June 3rd, 2021 — with bonus Dev notes!
Hmmm, where to start… so much to say… too much in fact…
Standby, checking with mission command.
Confirmation received. Too much content for one article. Splitting into two parts. Commencing content split in T-minus:
Game development continues at great pace:
Oooooh boy, every second Tuesday has quickly become my favourite day of the fortnight as it’s Dev Update Day! The day when we get to see all the progress that the dev team is making and I can confidently say that the core game is shaping up quite nicely if I may say so myself. I’ll chuck the full dev notes down below but for now rest assured that things are getting pretty close to a playable demo, and it’s looking super fun!
We’re hitting all sprint targets and we’re on schedule for the planned beta and V1 release — though we’ll keep the specific dates to ourselves for just a little bit longer :)
Tokenomics/ecosystem model and development for staking and trading:
We’re 99% finished with the technical model for the integration of the staking and trading element to the BUSTaBNB ecosystem and development has begun on the core aspects while we finalise the remaining 1% of finer details. So far everything is on track for a synchronised release with the core game and unless we’ve missed something, what we’re building is going to be truly unique in both the DeFi and the online game space.
All this has really been a labour of love for us apes — researching, experimenting and planning the best possible way of connecting and intertwining the various aspects of our quite broad and complex ecosystem to best benefit our players, investors, stakers, traders, affiliates, and partners — APEcoin and Memefarm to begin with. We’re actually so passionate and proud about what we’ve come up with that we’re planning to get the final technical flow diagram printed on canvas and hung on the wall at Ape HQ — we’ll post pics when it’s up!
All powered by the DEGENerator DAO:
Now this is something that’s always been one of the major elements of the BUSTaBNB ecosystem but we haven’t talked about it much publicly, and we feel like now might be the time to bring it into the light.
A DAO, for those not in the know, is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization. And when we say that the BUSTaBNB ecosystem is going to be powered by the DEGENerator DAO, we mean that we’re building it with most of the important aspects under direct control of the DAO. And since the DAO is controlled by the BUST token holders through our built in governance system, it’s fair to say that BUSTaBNB is built by apes, for apes, controlled by apes (apes who hold BUST to be pedantic).
It’s kind of like when Cyberdyne Systems built Skynet then removed all the safety protocols and left it fully autonomous, except we’ll make sure we leave just enough security in place so that BUSTaBNB doesn’t take over the world and begin the systematic destruction of all mankind and create all sorts of time loops and plot holes and just not leave Arnie in retirement *cough* … ugh, excuse me, where was I…
Oh yea, DAOs. There’s a lot still in development here but we’re planning on BUST holders being able to determine the exact percentage splits of the various revenue and reward streams, right from day 1. As the ecosystem evolves, we will pass more and more responsibilities out of our hands and into the DAO’s so the community of BUST holders will be the ones making the decisions via proposals and voting. The end result will be a game and ecosystem that requires very little input from us — the creators — other than general maintenance and the occasional software update. This way, we can be adding more games and expanding the ecosystem while the DAO takes care of the rest :)
And now for the famed dev notes section where the real good stuff lives:
# Sprint 3 (Early May)
Goal: Make the game playable with new design, and start work on social features
We wanted to implement controls for placing a bet and exiting the round working on the frontend. Add the Leaderboard, so that players can compare their performance and compete. Lay groundwork for keeping track of player funds. Finalise additional designs for the frontend, especially Leaderboard and game audit reports.
# Sprint 4 (Late May)
Goal: Implement the funds manager, so that players can track their winnings and losses, and improve QoL for players.
Build the backend for keeping track of player funds. After a round crashes, add a countdown to the game area until the next round starts. Configurable + auditable house edge. Make game engine more robust, so that it can recover gracefully from expected / unexpected restarts. Quality of life improvements for the frontend — control states for interstitials (waiting for backend to confirm bet, disabled until next round, etc.) and toast notifications.
Ok so that’s it for Part 1. Part 2 is on the way and should be released before you can even say “wen part 2?”. And trust me, Part 2 is the real juicy stuff, like when the T-1000 shows up to eliminate John Connor but the T-800 shows up on the motorbike and then…. ah nevermind, you’ll see soon enough…
Neil ApeStrong, signing off — while hiding under a bridge from Skynet AKA BUSTaBNB DEGENerator DAO in the not too distant future
